GM Has The Right To Do Stupid Stuff

So a few days ago there was a huge uproar over the bicycle community about GM's latest ad being put up on college campus' and around this area. I am not going to link to it or put a picture up because it is fairly easy to find on the web. Anyways to give a short story about it they wanted to give the idea its uncool to ride your bike in forms of commuting or exercise and that only geeks and losers ride bikes. They showed two different cars and the prices after the persons college discount. Well the bicycle community didn't like this perception and GM gave in and took down the ad campaign.

So from my own point of view and opinion I agree this is one stupid ad campaign, BUT GM does have the right to print a ad campaign to generate money from perspective customers. It only takes one person to buy a automobile from reading a advertisement to make said advertisement a success.

The problem I have in the controversial ad is using a group of people like bike riders and showing them as losers or geeks to pump up there product. The reason its a bad idea is because this stereotype no longer fits anymore. Many types of people ride bicycles for many different reasons. I believe the car companies are seeing a drastic drop in sales to individuals around college campuses because they have to fight against the bicycle and people walking and this makes them mad. So they feel they must show these individuals in a light to lower them to a class of people that might not actually fit the real person.

So does GM have the right to make stereotype style advertisements? Yes they do. The only stupid thing is, is that there perception is drastically warped and out of date. I believe this ad campaign stunt seriously blew up in their own face, because they are stuck in an era where this style of stereotyping would possibly be relevant, which it no longer is.

Time to meet the furry children

So lets meet the furry children that live in my house. First we will start with Stud. Stud is a 12 year old cat that I have had since he was a kitten living in Indianapolis. He is a old grumpy cat now. He just recently got diagnosed with diabetes and has lost alot of weight because of it. Basically we are waiting for him to die.

Say hello to Dillon. Dillon and Sage are both 4 year old Border Collies. Dillon is alittle odd. He is extremely loyal to my wife and I and Adelaide, but that is where it ends. He loves to terrorize his sister Sage, and get bullied by Cara. His best friend is Stud the Cat.

This is Sage, her and Dillon are brother and sister. She is alittle crazy. Always playing with a ball is a understatement. If you want to throw her a ball, you can't do it just once she will consistantly bring it back to you. If she had it her way she would play ball 24-7.

Say hello to Cara. Cara is a Greyhound and she will be 6 on Thanksgiving. If you ever happen to see Cara not sleeping please inform me. I would like to see

Off To The Park

Well here we are the first official outting on this blog. Here I am introducing my daughter Adelaide. She will be 2 in December and as you can see she loves her trailer.

Over all the trip to the park is about 2 miles. There is a shorter more unscenic route we could take but as you see it is pretty on the trail to Parr Park.

But once we get to this bridge things get alittle tough pulling that trailer up this bridge. I have to down shift about 3 to 4 gears to get to the top of the bridge.

Once we get to the bottom of the bridge we have arrived at Parr Park.

And here we are, we have finally arrived to Parr Park. Adelaide loves to come here and play on the slides and swings.

Say cheese sweetie!

Up on top ready to go down the slide! The only problem is.......

The slide has moisture on it so Adelaide's back side got wet. Also she insisted on continuelly going down the slide. Which only made it more wet!

Up on the Firetruck again but wanting to jump off......Catch Me!!!!!!

We ended out trip to the park on the swings. Which was around 11AM. We had to head home to have lunch and for Adelaide to take a nap.

The modes of Transportation Pt 2: Gary Fisher & Trek Trailer

So here is Part 2 of introducing my bicycles and also the trailer I put my daughter in when we hit the road together. The Bike is a Gary Fisher mountain bike. I only use this bike when pulling my daugther to either the park or other locations. I am not a big fan of this bike and hope to soon get rid of it and get something more comfortable like a Hybrid or a comfort bike since it basically only gets used for pulling the trailer. As for the trailer it is a Trek Doodlebug trailer, and my daughter loves to ride in it. We have been to the park multiple times and also up to Target and Best Buy.

The modes of transportation Pt 1: Nishiki

Here we have my Nishiki. It is a 1985-87 Model made in Japan. It's a 6 Speed road bike I use when I am by myself or on group rides. Just got it a couple months ago and I have to say it is alot of fun to ride. The shifters are on the downtube and has been rather a challenge to learn having to lean down to change gears. Tomorrow I will continue this with my other bicycle and trailer, so stay tuned!

First Post!

Well I have decided to start a bicycle blog. Yep that is right. So this blog/site will pertain to all my adventures on my bicycles. I will also post information that happens with myself and my family as time goes by. So let the excitement begin!
